Des Moines, Iowa!!!

So, I've been in Des Moines about about 7 weeks now, and I'm just now doing something with the pictures I took shortly after moving in and getting most of our stuff unpacked (and a few of right after unloading the u-haul). I am posting these here since it's a little easier than trying to email a bunch of pictures to the 2 of you who are interested in seeing them. :) Enjoy!

This is actually from Joe's White Coat Ceremony weekend - the weekend before I moved up to join Joe in Des Moines. We are standing in the parking lot in front of our apt building.

Our bedroom

The dining room (it's so great to have a dining room!)

The future office with the desk in its many pieces.

The living room opens up to the dining room - this is the new chair we got since our couches wouldn't fit up our stairs (we sold the chair we had as a set with the couch).

Our bedroom again - this time mostly set up and unpacked.

Our little tiny bathroom.

The office with the desk set up - and some boxes that took me a while to get to...

Joe's amazing white board attached to the wall.

Hallway from the dining room to the back of the house - the bathroom is on the right (you can't see that door) and the door straight ahead is our bedroom, and the door to the left is the office. There is a decent sized linen closet to the left that you can't see either. Love having the storage space here!

Best part of this room is the DISHWASHER!!!!!!!

Dining room - obviously.

Living room with our fancy new couch. :) It had to be shorter than 70 inches in order to fit up our stairs. You wouldn't think that would be very hard, but we had a hard time finding something that would work that wasn't super expensive. We were happy with what we ended up finding though!

And that is it - I wish I had thought to take a picture of the outside of the house because we love being able to refer to our house as the blue one - it is pretty close to smurf-ish blue and we like it alot. Now you all (both, sorry) have to come and see it in person!!!!!!!!!!!

Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen

So, since I have yet to print out pictures from our digital camera (and we have owned it since last Thanks giving), I thought I would post a few of the cute pics I have of Josiah so everyone else could see them too! Enjoy Beth, Laura and Mom! ;) The one of him in his cute pajamas is my favorite!!

Hello!

So, I never write on here and pretty much forget that we have a blog! This post is for Beth and Laura, because they are probably two of about two people that will see it and appreciate it. ;) Beth, I hope you are feeling settled in your new house and that we can hang out soon!!

Our most recent excitement was a trip to Chicago for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We had a great weekend seeing the tourist stuff as well as experiencing some local night life. It was a little crazy, because it was during Joe's semester, but it was great to get away for a few days and get to see each other and something besides his text books!

The main events in our lives right now are studying for the MCAT (for Joe) and working for a crazy boss (Leslie). The MCAT is June 18, so all of life revolves around that date right now. After that, we will be in waiting mode while we wait for the MCAT scores and to hopefully hear from many med schools which are interested in interviewing Joe for acceptance to their institution of higher learning. Then, we will see where that takes us - staying here if he goes to University of Louisville or moving elsewhere to a different med school.

Other than that, we love hanging out with the best nephew in the world, Josiah... and his parents are okay too. :) We also are getting to know some international families, which has been challenging but always lots of fun. And we are looking forward to my parents coming to visit soon, and then going to visit Joe's family after the MCAT is over.

That's all I've got. Thanks for reading..... :)

Our friends are all moving away!!!

Sadly some of our friends are moving this week and some other friends are moving next week. :( This picture was taken at the going away party for the Reeds, who are moving Friday. But, the girl in the picture with Laura and me is Kimiko, our friend who is moving next week.

We will miss both couples greatly, but send them off with prayers for an exciting and fun journey as well as God's provision for their futures.

(Laura and I don't look like twins, do we?? Nah!!)

Little Josiah - our beautiful nephew!!

Hello again - to the 3 or 4 of you who will read our blog. :) My sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Nathan Knisely, had their beautiful baby boy on February 12 at 2:10pm. We love him so much and just wanted to share a few pictures with everyone(unfortunately they are the same ones as I have posted on facebook). I have a few more than my mom sent me with us in them, but I will have to scan them in at home and add them later. Please be praying for Laura and Nathan (and Josiah of course!!) as they all adjust to this new phase of life - and also pray for us and our church community as we support and encourage them.

now we have a blog!!! who woulda thought??

Hello all,
I just wanted to see if I could make a blog too - everyone has one but us, right? :) I thought it would be very complicated and I could never have one, but alas this is not the case - thanks to those who know a lot about computers creating easy ways for the rest of us to do what we would like to do, but would not normally know how to do it. Hopefully that made sense.....in essence thank you geeks for helping out the un-geeks!!

I probably won't post on here very often, but I thought I might occasionally want to post some pictures or an update from the exciting lives of the Hobacks, so now I have a way of doing that.
